Williamsburg is gearing up for an exciting month of May, filled with a variety of events for both locals and tourists. From craft beer festivals to art showcases and community appreciation activities, the Greater Williamsburg area promises entertainment for every interest this spring.

Among the highlighted events is the 10th Annual Williamsburg Craft Beer Festival, which is set to draw craft beer enthusiasts from around the region. Additionally, the Blues, Brews, & BBQ Festival will serve up live music and a vibrant atmosphere, making it a must-visit for those looking to enjoy great food and entertainment. A concert series throughout the month will further enhance the cultural experience in the area.

In recognition of its efforts, Visit Williamsburg has received the prestigious 2024 VIRGO Award from The Virginia Association of Destination Marketing Organizations for the Historic Holiday Pass initiative. The organization itself is the official destination marketing entity for Williamsburg, Yorktown, and Jamestown and operates the WilliamsBLOG, providing valuable resources for visitors and residents alike.

Revolutionary BBQ Brawl and Music Festival

The Revolutionary BBQ Brawl and Music Festival will take place at Chickahominy Riverfront Park from Friday to Sunday, featuring a plethora of activities suitable for individuals and families. Festivities kick off on Friday evening with food tastings alongside barbecue, beer, whiskey, and wine, with tickets available for $45. This event is not only about food; attendees can engage in a free family-fun bike ride and yoga session on Saturday, starting at 9:30 a.m. A highlight of Saturday evening will be a free concert by Full Moon Fever, a tribute band performing the hits of Tom Petty at 6 p.m. Sunday wraps up with a 5K race and a 1K fun run, with registration fees set at $35 for the 5K and $25 for the 1K. Each ticket includes a T-shirt, a barbecue sandwich with a side, and one drink ticket. The post-race festivities will feature a live performance by Skinner Box.

Art on the Square

This May also marks the 59th Annual Art on the Square event, which is scheduled for Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Duke of Gloucester Street. This arts festival will showcase the work of 100 fine artists, providing a platform for local talent to be recognized. Notably, Gulay Berryman has been named the featured artist for this year, with a special painting being raffled off during the event. Proceeds from the event will benefit visual and performing arts organizations as well as scholarships for art students. Admission is free, and more details can be found at the Williamsburg Juniors’ website.

Community Appreciation Day

Ahead of the May festivities, the fifth annual Community Appreciation Day took place on April 30, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. The event featured engaging activities such as games, live music, snow cones, ice cream, and a craft project led by the Williamsburg Regional Library. This event was designed to celebrate the contributions of community residents and is open to everyone.

Military Appreciation Month

In honor of Military Appreciation Month, Busch Gardens Williamsburg is providing complimentary tickets to U.S. military veterans and their guests until May 11. Eligible veterans can claim free admission for themselves and up to three guests, with ticket usage valid until July 6, 2025. Service verification through the ID.me platform is required to access this offer. Additional discounts will be available for veterans who wish to purchase extra tickets. Moreover, the Waves of Honor program continues to extend complimentary admission to active-duty military personnel and their immediate family members.

With an array of activities planned throughout May, Williamsburg is poised to deliver a vibrant atmosphere that celebrates community spirit, creativity, and appreciation for those who serve the country.
