Williamsburg, VA – Busch Gardens Williamsburg has announced the grand opening of its new roller coaster, “The Big Bad Wolf: The Wolf’s Revenge,” set to launch on May 23, 2025. This highly anticipated ride will be a key highlight in the park’s 50th anniversary celebration, which begins on May 16, 2025.
Exclusive preview rides for park members will be available starting on the opening day of the anniversary festivities, offering a sneak peek into the newest addition to the park. The incoming coaster promises to captivate both families and thrill-seekers alike with its unique features and storyline.
“The Big Bad Wolf: The Wolf’s Revenge” is distinguished as North America’s longest family inverted coaster, spanning over 2,500 feet in length and reaching speeds of up to 40 miles per hour. The ride is developed by the renowned manufacturer Bolliger & Mabillard, marking it as Busch Gardens’ 11th coaster.
This thrilling coaster will immerse riders in a captivating storyline set in a bustling Bavarian village, where they will encounter and attempt to evade a mythical wolf. It is situated in the Oktoberfest section of the park, specifically on the site previously occupied by the Drachen Fire coaster.
The new ride draws inspiration from the original “Big Bad Wolf” coaster, which operated from 1984 until 2009 and quickly became a favorite among guests seeking excitement. Unlike the original, which boasted speeds of up to 48 mph along 2,800 feet of track with swinging seats, “The Wolf’s Revenge” offers a refreshed concept and new elements while honoring the legacy of its predecessor.
In terms of accessibility, the new roller coaster will have a minimum height requirement of 42 inches for riders accompanied by a supervising adult, and 48 inches for unaccompanied riders, ensuring a safe experience for all guests enjoying the ride.
The opening of the new coaster will coincide with Busch Gardens’ extensive 50th anniversary celebration, featuring a variety of events on May 16, including a lookback presentation, live performances from a cover band representing the 1970s, and a spectacular fireworks display. Special promotions throughout the anniversary will include 75-cent beers, commemorative t-shirts for $19.75, and free cupcakes for park members.
As a special incentive, guests born in May 1975 will receive free park entry on May 16 with valid photo identification, commemorating the year Busch Gardens first opened its gates to the public.
The grand opening ceremony for “The Wolf’s Revenge” will take place on May 23 and will include a ribbon-cutting event, a DJ dance party, and opportunities for special photo sessions, making it an unforgettable day for park visitors.
With the introduction of “The Big Bad Wolf: The Wolf’s Revenge”, Busch Gardens Williamsburg is poised to provide thrilling experiences for its guests while celebrating 50 years of memorable attractions and entertainment.
