The festival coincides with National Pancake Day, commencing on September 26 and featuring a myriad of events designed to embrace the local culinary culture.

Festival Overview

The event is organized by Visit Williamsburg in conjunction with the arts organization CultureFix. The celebration kicks off on September 26 with a special ticketed pajama party held at the Hellenic Center from 5:30 PM to 8:30 PM. This family-friendly event will offer live music, face painting, a dedicated kids’ zone, and unlimited pancakes with a variety of toppings for attendees.

Day Two Activities

The festivities continue on September 27 with a free morning celebration in Merchant’s Square from 10:00 AM to noon. The Saturday schedule includes an exciting dachshund race known as the Sausage Sprint, presented by Zoom Room. In addition, a pancake-themed children’s book reading will take place, fostering a culinary appreciation among the young ones.

One of the main highlights of the festival will be the World Pancake Eating Championship, showcasing competitive eaters such as Nick Wehry and Miki Sudo. Sudo is well-known for holding the women’s record for eating 51 hot dogs in 10 minutes at Nathan’s Famous Fourth of July Hot Dog Eating Contest in 2024, adding to the excitement of the competitive eating event.

With at least eight pancake houses and several restaurants serving pancakes, the trail aims to highlight Williamsburg’s vibrant culinary scene.

Entry to the pajama party is priced at $20 for adults and $15 for teenagers, while children and college students can attend for free. Admission to the pancake festival festivities in Merchant’s Square is also complimentary for those participating in the Pancake Trail.
