Williamsburg, Virginia – A variety of exciting local events and business openings have captured the community’s attention this May, including the launch of a new clock repair service and a commemorative bourbon, alongside several upcoming events that promise to engage residents and visitors alike.
New Clock Repair Service Established
Thomas Vernachio has opened the Williamsburg Antique Clock Service and Repair from his home workshop, providing expert clock repair services to the area. The business began operating in January after Vernachio relocated to Williamsburg with his wife.
Vernachio’s passion for clock repair was ignited in Pennsylvania after he watched a program about watch fixing. Following his fascination, he graduated from the York Time Institute in Pennsylvania and completed an apprenticeship before working at an antique shop, where he serviced approximately 2,800 clocks.
His newly launched business specializes in a variety of clocks, including tall case and grandfather clocks, mantel clocks, wall clocks, alarm clocks, and novelty types like Cuckoo clocks. He has repaired clocks from various historical periods, with the age of the timepieces reaching as far back as 1650 and including notable repairs from 1720. Services offered consist of cleaning, lubricating, rebuilding, and testing clocks.
Vernachio values the historical significance of clocks and enjoys interactions with his clients, further expanding the local appreciation for horology.
Victory Bourbon to Honor WWII Anniversary
Copper Fox Distillery has announced the launch of a new bourbon, Victory Bourbon, set to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the victory in World War II. The official unveiling will take place on May 31 at a launch party from 3-7 p.m. at the distillery.
This special bourbon is crafted from 100% corn to reflect the ingenuity of wartime distilling when traditional grains were redirected for military use. A portion of the sales proceeds will support the Military Aviation Museum in Virginia Beach, emphasizing a commitment to honoring those who served.
Attendees can also look forward to live music during the launch event, creating an enjoyable atmosphere as the community comes together to celebrate this significant milestone.
