Community members engage in trivia during a lively DJ event in Williamsburg.
Squared Away Entertainment in Williamsburg is focusing on community engagement and fundraising under new owner Matt Chambers. With over 1,400 trivia nights hosted, the company aims to support local nonprofits and adapt to evolving events, including virtual trivia during the pandemic. Celebrating its eighth anniversary, Squared Away is committed to enriching local culture and fostering connections through entertainment.
Squared Away Entertainment, a Williamsburg-based company providing DJ and MC services, interactive trivia events, and modern photo booth rentals, is expanding its role in the community. Owner Matt Chambers, who retired from the military last summer, is redirecting the focus of the business towards community engagement and fundraising.
Founded seven years ago, Squared Away Entertainment initially specialized in DJ services for weddings and events, along with trivia nights at various local venues. Over the years, Chambers has hosted more than 1,400 trivia nights in the area, establishing himself as a popular figure in local entertainment.
Chambers, after spending time as a stay-at-home dad, is committed to transforming Squared Away Entertainment into a full-time operation. He aims to deepen the company’s involvement with local nonprofits by offering trivia nights as fundraising events. Recent successes have highlighted this initiative, demonstrating the company’s potential to contribute positively to the community.
Since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, Chambers has adapted by hosting virtual trivia events, allowing participants to engage from the safety of their homes. This transition has not only kept the trivia community vibrant but has also paved the way for additional fundraising opportunities for local organizations.
Looking ahead, Chambers is dedicated to continuing regular trivia nights at various venues throughout Williamsburg. He collaborates with fellow trivia host Matt Mullins, who co-developed the local SpeedQuizzing community and operates his own DJ service, Mullins Entertainment. The partnership has enhanced the trivia experience in the area, providing more options for local residents.
To mark its eight-year anniversary, Squared Away Entertainment is hosting a celebratory trivia night at the Virginia Bee Company. The event promises to be a fun gathering, reflecting both the company’s growth and its dedication to community involvement.
Currently, the company has a weekly trivia schedule available, although its official website is under construction due to ongoing updates. Interested individuals can contact Squared Away Entertainment through its Facebook page for event details and inquiries.
Squared Away Entertainment has built a reputation in Williamsburg for its engaging and interactive entertainment offerings. The company’s roots lie in traditional DJ services for celebratory events and gatherings, which have drawn local interest over the past several years.
Chambers’ passion for trivia is evident, as he finds the activity not only enjoyable but also fulfilling. By amplifying the company’s presence in the community, he aims to make trivia an integral part of local culture while raising funds and awareness for various causes.
As Squared Away Entertainment continues to evolve under Chambers’ leadership, its potential to enrich the community through entertainment and support for nonprofits remains a priority. The company’s future endeavors will likely include more collaborative events with local organizations, showcasing the spirit of community engagement that Chambers believes is essential for growth and connection.
