Williamsburg is preparing to host the 25th Annual British & Import Car Show this Saturday, May 3, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event will take place at the Williamsburg Premium Outlets, where car enthusiasts can enjoy a display of over 100 classic and sporty automobiles from Britain, Europe, and Asia. This event is organized by the Williamsburg British and Import Car Club, with sponsorship provided by Blair Todd State Farm.

The car show will feature live music, including performances from the Williamsburg Pipes & Drums, creating a festive atmosphere. Families can look forward to various activities for children, and food trucks will be on-site offering a range of culinary delights. Pet owners can also bring their furry friends to enjoy the day, making it a family-friendly occasion.

Attendees will have chances to win prizes throughout the event, with 50/50 raffles and door prizes available. A celebratory award ceremony will honor standout vehicles and participants. State Farm will provide giveaways while supplies last, adding to the excitement of the day.

The car show will occur in the outdoor parking lot located between the Banana Republic and Michael Kors buildings at the Premium Outlets, ensuring ample space for visitors to explore the showcase of automobiles.

Supporting Community Initiatives

While the car show is a highlight of the weekend, Williamsburg is also focusing on various community initiatives. The Virginia Department of Rail and Public Transportation is collecting feedback through a survey aimed at enhancing transportation access for individuals with disabilities, seniors, veterans, and low-income individuals. This survey will remain open until May 4 and is part of an effort to update the Coordinated Human Services Mobility Plan, which seeks to identify transportation challenges and create solutions across the state.

In addition, the U.S. Small Business Administration has announced low-interest federal disaster loans available for businesses impacted by severe storms occurring from January 5-11. This disaster declaration, made on April 9, covers multiple primary and adjacent counties throughout Virginia, providing support to those affected.

Environmental and Community Engagement Efforts

Residents in Gloucester are encouraged to participate in a survey regarding their interactions with local waterways. The goal is to aid in zoning policy recommendations that will help preserve working waterfronts. A graduate-level intern will investigate both risks and benefits associated with a proposed Working Waterfront Overlay District, which stems from recommendations in the Gloucester Comprehensive Plan.

The Historic Yorktown Design Committee is also looking for new members to join their team, reflecting ongoing efforts to engage the community in local governance and historical preservation.

Highlighting Williamsburg’s Cultural Heritage

Furthermore, Williamsburg’s Triangle Block, recognized as a historically Black business district, will be featured in an upcoming documentary titled “Displaced from the Birthplace of America.” This film will delve into the area’s history and the lasting impacts of urban renewal. The documentary is set to premiere in 2026, with local events planned in the lead-up to share insights and foster dialogue within the community.

The combination of the car show and various community initiatives demonstrates Williamsburg’s commitment to celebrating its cultural heritage while addressing contemporary issues within the community. By participating in such events and initiatives, residents and visitors alike can contribute to the ongoing development and enrichment of the Williamsburg area.
