As part of the recent resolution, the Board has mandated that President Ryan provide a comprehensive report within 30 days detailing adherence to federal mandates concerning DEI programs. Virginia’s Republican Governor Glenn Youngkin has publicly supported the Board’s decision, indicating a decisive end to DEI initiatives at the university. The U.S. Department of Justice’s Civil Rights Division had also conveyed dissatisfaction with the university’s progress in dismantling its DEI framework, further intensifying the scrutiny on the institution.
