Students from local high schools proudly showcase their signed letters of intent during a celebration in Potomac Shores.
Students from four diocesan high schools in Potomac Shores, VA, have signed national letters of intent to pursue collegiate sports. This landmark event showcases the achievements of student-athletes from Saint John Paul the Great, Bishop O’Connell, Bishop Ireton, and St. Paul VI Catholic High Schools. The students will compete in various sports at universities across the country, celebrating their hard work and dedication alongside their families and schools.
Potomac Shores, VA — Students from four diocesan high schools have officially signed national letters of intent, paving their way to compete in college sports across the country. This event signifies a moment of celebration and achievement for the student-athletes, their families, and their schools.
At the forefront, Saint John Paul the Great Catholic High School in Potomac Shores celebrated the signing of several athletes. Brady Brennan is set to run both indoor and outdoor track at the College of William & Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia. Teammate Austin Colvin will also be running track at Sewanee: University of the South in Sewanee, Tennessee. Additionally, Gianna Davis has committed to swim at Loyola University in Baltimore.
Other notable signings include Armaan Dhillon at Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Virginia; Matthew Hawkins who will play lacrosse at Embry Riddle in Daytona Beach, Florida; and Catalina O’Connor who will head to Benedictine College in Atchison, Kansas to play lacrosse.
More athletes signing from this school are Killian McNulty for football at Walsh University in North Canton, Ohio; Therese Muskett for field hockey at Belmont Abbey College in Belmont, North Carolina; and Chinuorumogu Nnaman for football at Christopher Newport University in Newport News, Virginia. Other sports represented include lacrosse with Meghan Norko at Wagner University in Staten Island, New York, and track with Chinenye Obasi at the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland.
Additional signers include Levi Reale for baseball at the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Point, New York, Joseph Schiller for football at The Catholic University of America in Washington, as well as other athletes in soccer, baseball, and more.
Bishop O’Connell High School in Arlington also had significant representation. Notably, Scott Anderson committed to play football at the U.S. Coast Guard Academy in New London, Connecticut, while Abigail Bond will be playing softball at Gettysburg College in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania.
Among others, Daniya Brown will play basketball at Rider University in Lawrenceville, New Jersey, and Aiden Caulker has signed for basketball at Eastern Florida State College in Cocoa, Florida. Kamari Chisolm will play baseball at Hood College in Frederick, Maryland.
The school also celebrated commitments in field hockey, golf, and volleyball, with students signing across various prestigious universities, including Lucy Hensler and Ciara McLaughlin at Sewanee and Saint Francis University respectively.
Bishop Ireton High School in Alexandria recognized its athletes as well. Amirah Anderson will be playing girls basketball at Boston College in Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts, while Nyla Brooks heads to UNC Chapel Hill for the same sport.
Other signings include Helena Coleman for track at Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, Connecticut, and Wesley Cooper for football at Juanita University in Huntingdon, Pennsylvania.
This school also features commitments in several other sports, including lacrosse and cheerleading, representing institutions from various states—including the University of Florida and Longwood University.
St. Paul VI Catholic High School in Chantilly rounded out the group with several notable signers. Leah Anand will play soccer at St. John’s University in Queens, New York, while Charlie Balderrama also commits to soccer at George Washington University in Washington.
Meanwhile, Zakk Chesteen and Mariana de Castro will participate in lacrosse and field hockey, respectively, representing universities across the region.
In total, students from all four schools showcased their athletic talents by signing over 100 letters of intent, indicating a promising future in collegiate sports across the United States.
