A stolen fire engine wreaks havoc in a community, leading to multiple hit-and-run incidents.
A fire engine from the Everett Fire Department was stolen while the crew responded to a medical emergency. The theft led to a chaotic series of hit-and-run incidents, causing extensive damage to multiple vehicles. Witnesses described the fire truck speeding through the neighborhood, and the suspect fled on foot after abandoning the stolen vehicle. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, but the fire department is reviewing policies to ensure community safety. Authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward as they continue to investigate this alarming incident.
In an unusual turn of events late on Friday night, July 18, 2025, a fire engine from the Everett Fire Department was stolen while the crew responded to a medical emergency. The incident took place just after 11 p.m. on the 2900 block of Hoyt Avenue.
After wrapping up their response call, the fire crew returned only to discover their vehicle, a 2018 Pierce Enforcer Pumper weighing 35,000 pounds, had vanished. As if straight out of a movie scene, the stolen engine was already in the midst of chaos, with the first 911 call regarding a hit-and-run incident coming in at the same time from the 1300 block of Hoyt Avenue.
Eyewitness accounts reveal a chaotic scene. Witnesses reported seeing the fire truck barreling down the road, colliding with two parked cars at a high speed. The suspect drove recklessly northbound on Hoyt Avenue, leaving a trail of destruction in their wake.
The wild ride didn’t stop there. The stolen fire engine eventually made its way to East Marine View Drive, crashing into at least ten vehicles parked along the way. In total, the suspect managed to cause damage to at least 14 different vehicles, with reports flooding in from various locations of hit-and-runs.
As the chaos unfolded, the suspect abandoned the stolen fire engine in the 1000 block of W. Marine View Drive and fled on foot, leading police on a frantic pursuit. The Everett Police quickly established a perimeter and even conducted a K-9 track in an attempt to locate the suspect. Unfortunately, despite their efforts, the suspect remains on the loose.
Amidst all this destruction, it’s a relief to hear that no injuries were reported. However, the damage to the fire engine was significant enough that it was taken out of service and is currently impounded for evidence. Emergency services are still being maintained, thanks to a reserve fire apparatus that the Everett Fire Department deployed.
To prevent such troubling incidents in the future, the Everett Fire Department is reviewing its existing policies and procedures. It’s essential for community trust in first responders, and they want to ensure the public feels safe.
The reckless actions of the suspect have raised alarms within the community and among local officials. It’s clear that such behavior poses a serious threat not only to first responders but also to the public at large.
As investigators from the Everett Police Department work tirelessly on the case, they’re reaching out to the community for assistance. If anyone has video footage or any information about the incident, they are encouraged to dial 425-257-8450. Every little bit can help pave the way towards bringing this reckless individual to justice.
As the dust settles from this bizarre incident, the priority for everyone involved remains clear: ensuring the safety and trust of the community. While the stolen fire engine may have carved a chaotic path through the streets, the resolve of the Everett Fire and Police departments to serve and protect remains unwavering.
