Williamsburg – HMP Properties has officially opened the Spark by Hilton Williamsburg Historic Area, located at 201 Bypass Road. This new hotel aims to provide affordable accommodation just minutes away from prominent historic attractions such as Colonial Williamsburg, Busch Gardens, and the College of William & Mary.

The Spark by Hilton Williamsburg boasts 118 modern guest rooms, which are designed to offer both comfort and functionality. Guests can look forward to complimentary breakfast during their stay, enhancing the value of their visit. This new hotel brand delivers Hilton’s renowned quality while catering to budget-conscious travelers seeking affordable yet pleasant lodging experiences.

As Hilton’s first premium economy brand, Spark by Hilton positions itself as a fresh option within the hospitality landscape, focusing on modern conveniences and warm service. The Williamsburg location is one of the early debut sites for this innovative brand, signaling Hilton’s commitment to diversifying its offerings in the competitive hotel market. Reservations for those interested in experiencing the Spark by Hilton can be made easily online.

In conjunction with the hotel opening, James City County is promoting its commitment to environmentally sustainable community projects. The county has announced matching grant awards of up to $500 for eligible projects focused on numerous areas including water conservation efforts, native and pollinator gardens, and erosion control measures. The applications for these Good Neighbor Grants must be submitted by 4 p.m. on September 15 either electronically or delivered to the county’s designated location.

Moreover, James City County Parks & Recreation is actively seeking members from the Grove Community for its Neighborhood Advisory Committee. This committee will serve to advocate for local community needs and members will hold a voluntary term lasting two years. Applications for this opportunity will be accepted until August 15.

Additionally, WAVY-TV 10 has launched its Operation School Supplies campaign to aid students in the Hampton Roads area. This charitable initiative began on July 11 and will culminate with live events on August 1 at both Patrick Henry Mall in Newport News and Target at Pembroke Square in Virginia Beach. The campaign encourages viewers, businesses, and local partners to contribute new school supplies. Sponsorship for this initiative includes local companies such as Kellam Home Services and Chesapeake Bank. Monetary donations collected through the online platform will specifically benefit Title I schools within the region.

Residents of Poquoson have been advised of an increase in door-to-door sales solicitations occurring in the area.
