Williamsburg, VA – Michael Allen Hughes, a treasured resident of Williamsburg, passed away on June 20, 2025, at the age of 33. His untimely death has left a profound impact on the lives of those who knew and loved him, including family, friends, and the wider community.

Michael was born on June 19, 1992, and was known for his vibrant personality and love for life. He enjoyed fishing, playing Xbox, and participating in various outdoor activities. His adventurous spirit and enthusiasm brought joy to many, making him a beloved son, father, brother, and friend.

Michael is survived by his mother, Karen Baskett (commonly known as DeeDee), and his father Bobby Drewry Jr. He has a stepfather, Mike Baskett, and a brother named Dallas Hughes, along with a sister-in-law, Teresa Hughes. Michael leaves behind his cherished daughter, McKenzie Hughes, and an unborn daughter, Emori Hughes. He was engaged to Stacy Walton, further enriching the family ties that will remember him fondly.

Michael’s passing is a significant loss to his family, as he was preceded in death by several loved ones. His grandfathers, Charles Hughes and Bobby Drewry Sr., along with his grandmothers, Doris Bissette and Izeta Hogge, have passed before him. Additionally, he is mourned by his sisters, Amra Drewry and Jamie Buckner, both of whom predeceased him. The family also includes his grandmother, Carolyn Hughes, and several other relatives, including two nephews, Jason Byrd and Zachary Suttle, and a niece, Alia Tarantini.

In recognition of Michael’s life and the memories he created, a Celebration of Life will be held on August 9, 2025. The event is planned to take place at the Williamsburg Moose Ballroom, located at 5429 Richmond Road, Williamsburg, VA 23188. Friends and family are invited to join from 3 PM to 6 PM to share memories and honor Michael’s legacy.

Michael’s adventurous nature and joyful spirit will remain in the hearts of all who were privileged to know him. His family and friends continue to cherish the memories of their time with him, ensuring that his legacy remains alive in stories shared and lives inspired by his presence.

The bond that Michael created with those around him serves as a testament to his positive impact on the community of Williamsburg. As they come together to celebrate his life, his loved ones will reflect on the joy he brought into their lives and continue to carry his memory as they navigate a world without him.
