Community honors the memory of Kelly Carroll with a heartfelt tribute.
Kelly Carroll, a prominent businesswoman and community leader, has passed away at the age of 59 in Yorktown, VA. Known for her compassion and dedication, Carroll leaves behind a legacy of philanthropy and family devotion. Her contributions to local business and social initiatives have greatly impacted the Hampton Roads area, where she was beloved by many. A memorial service will be held, allowing friends and family to celebrate her life and share cherished memories.
Yorktown, VA – Kelly Carroll, a respected community member and accomplished businesswoman, passed away on June 2, 2025, at the age of 59 at her residence in Yorktown. Carroll was a lifelong resident of the Hampton Roads area, where she was known for her significant contributions both personally and professionally.
Born on August 25, 1965, in Hampton Roads, Kelly’s commitment to her community and family shone throughout her life. She attended Hampton High School and worked at Holy Family Retreat House during her educational journey, laying the foundation for her strong work ethic. With over 30 years of professional experience at WTIA, she was instrumental in various initiatives and developments in her field.
In addition to her corporate career, Carroll was a successful entrepreneur in the real estate sector. She played a pivotal role in establishing and growing Kelly’s Construction, where her vision and leadership helped the business flourish. Her dedication to her profession was paralleled only by her devotion to her family, with her daughters, Leslie Goode and Bonnie Finch, being her proudest achievements.
Kelly is survived by her husband, James (Rusty) Carroll, Jr., her daughters, Leslie Goode and Bonnie Finch, and their respective husbands, Chad Goode and Justin Finch. In addition to her immediate family, she leaves behind two cherished granddaughters, Peyton and Rylee Goode. Her legacy also extends to her five sisters: Bonnie S. Huff, Terri S. Hanson, Cheryl S. Kiser, Sherry S. Behrens, and Pattie S. Weeks, as well as her brothers Wayne Spencer and Bernard Spencer III. Carroll was also remembered fondly by numerous nieces, nephews, friends, and her beloved dog, Buddy.
Her passing is a significant loss for her community, as many will remember her for her compassion, generosity, and unwavering commitment to those around her. Kelly was preceded in death by her parents, Bernard Spencer Jr. and Barbara Spencer, a sister named Loretta Householder, and a brother-in-law, Robert Behrens.
The family will receive family and friends on June 6, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Amory Funeral Home. A celebration of Kelly’s life will take place on June 7, 2025, at 11:00 AM in the Amory Funeral Home Chapel, providing an opportunity for loved ones to pay their respects and share memories.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to the National Cancer Society, the Peninsula SPCA, or the Hampton Animal Aid Society, honoring Kelly’s philanthropic spirit and her love for animals. Her impact on the community and her family will be cherished forever, and her memory will live on in the hearts of those she touched.
