Williamsburg – Oceans & Ale has officially opened its new location on Monticello Avenue, expanding its space and menu options after 15 successful years at the Williamsburg Premium Outlets. The grand opening took place on July 2 and saw large attendance from the community.

The restaurant, now featuring 5,400 square feet of space, nearly doubles the size of its previous outlet location, which was 3,500 square feet. The new site permits greater flexibility and the ability to cater to bigger crowds and events, a necessity that owner John Wagner recognized due to the restaurant’s increasing popularity.

Originally, Oceans & Ale planned to move to a 5,000-square-foot standalone restaurant built on the former Yankee Candle property on Richmond Road. However, budget constraints led Wagner and the team to pivot to the former Ruby Tuesday site close to the Monticello Marketplace. This strategic decision not only allowed for a more manageable budget but also resulted in a location that offers its own parking lot, enhancing accessibility for patrons.

The expansion includes a larger kitchen, which enables Oceans & Ale to enhance its menu offerings. The team is planning to be more creative and diverse in their cuisine, distancing themselves from the limitations imposed by the previous outlet location. The restaurant specializes in seafood and craft beers, providing a charming atmosphere enhanced by collaborations with local musicians for live entertainment.

Furthermore, the added space has prompted Oceans & Ale to offer catering services, allowing them to host a variety of events such as bridal showers, graduation parties, and dinner gatherings. This move demonstrates the restaurant’s commitment to serving a wide array of customer needs beyond traditional dining.

As part of its growth, Oceans & Ale is actively seeking to hire full and part-time staff, including line cooks, kitchen staff, and morning prep cooks. Interested applicants can find application details on the restaurant’s website.

The new business hours for Oceans & Ale are as follows: Monday through Thursday from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m11:30 a.m. to 10 p.m.; Saturdays from 11:30 a.m. to 11 p.m.; and Sundays from 11:30 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Oceans & Ale’s new opening marks a significant milestone not only for the restaurant itself but also for the community of Williamsburg, as it continues to grow and adapt to the dining needs of residents and visitors alike.
