Hampton, Virginia – Marshall University Baseball faced a setback on Saturday afternoon, suffering a narrow defeat to Old Dominion with a final score of 5-4. The loss brought an end to Marshall’s impressive winning streak, which had reached seven games. As a result, the team’s overall record now stands at 25-23, with a conference record of 10-13 in Sun Belt action.
The game was marked by strong pitching from Old Dominion, coupled with a high number of strikeouts from Marshall, as expressed by the team’s head coach. Despite the initial lead held by Marshall, the game shifted dramatically in the fourth inning, allowing Old Dominion to mount a comeback.
Marshall started strong, leading 4-1 by the end of the third inning, thanks in part to two significant two-out, two-run home runs. A.J. Havrilla contributed to the scoring drive with a home run in the third, followed by Nolan Wilson, who added another in the fourth inning.
