Born on March 8, 1937, in Albion, New York, Bonnie was the daughter of Rev Ward B. Hurlburt and Frances E “Elanore” Hurlburt. She was preceded in death by her parents. Throughout her life, Bonnie held a strong faith in Jesus Christ, which she regarded as her lifeline, and her favorite hymn was “How Great Thou Art.” Bonnie’s educational journey began when she earned her Bachelor of Science degree from Radford College in 1958, followed by a Master of Science from the University of Wisconsin in 1964.

Bonnie’s teaching career took her around the globe, beginning in Morocco, North Africa, and later in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Eventually, she joined Radford University, where she made a significant impact.
