The Williamsburg community mourns the loss of two cherished individuals, Sharon Kojcsich and Bernie Wilson, whose lives touched many and whose legacies will endure in the hearts of family, friends, and neighbors.

Sharon Kojcsich

Sharon Kojcsich passed away on October 5, 2025, at the age of 74, leaving a lasting impact on the local community. Born on March 6, 1951, in Radford, Virginia, she was the daughter of Lawrence Lytton and is survived by her mother, Iris Lytton. She was preceded in death by her husband, Steven Kojcsich, her sister Joyce Lawson, and brother-in-law Bobby Lawson.

Kojcsich graduated from Dublin High School in 1969 and later became the owner of Curves for Women, demonstrating her commitment to women’s health and wellness. Throughout her life, she took an active role in various fundraisers and community outreach programs, exemplifying her dedication to helping others.

Sharon was known for her love of family and pets, which included spoiling her dogs and other animals. She cherished her time at her dream home in the Outer Banks, creating lasting memories by the shore. She is survived by her son, Jason Poythress, and his partner Kristina Kelley, along with two grandchildren, Thomas and Graeson Poythress, as well as her beloved pets Moose, Savannah, Bell Bell, and Spencer.

A Celebration of Life is scheduled for October 13, 2025, at 1:00 PM, at Nelsen Funeral Home in Williamsburg, Virginia, where family and friends can come together to honor her memory.

Bernie Wilson

In a separate but equally poignant loss, Bernie Wilson passed away peacefully on July 3, 2025, at the age of 70, in James City County, Virginia. Born on November 30, 1954, in Bedford, Virginia, he was preceded in death by his father Lawson Wilson, stepmother Irene Wilson, mother Helen Wilson Seward, stepfather Vernon Seward, and brother Charles R. Wilson.

Wilson was well-regarded as the owner of B & W Contractors, where he not only demonstrated his exceptional skill by being able to fix anything but also mentored many individuals in the field, leaving a legacy of knowledge and leadership.

A passionate outdoorsman, Wilson enjoyed activities such as fishing, hunting, and dog training. He was known for traveling with friends and forging connections with the younger generations, imparting wisdom that highlighted the value of community.

He is survived by his wife, Debbie Smith Wilson, of Toano, Virginia, along with his sons, Brian Lee Wilson (wife Dori, grandsons Baron and Alex Wilson) of South Carolina and Lawson Delano Wilson of Hawaii, as well as his granddaughter, Mahealani Sargis (husband Benjamin) of Boise, Idaho. Additional grandchildren include Makenzie Wilson and Emma Schreyer, along with great-granddaughter Ruby Sargis. Wilson is also survived by his brothers and stepsister, encompassing a close-knit family.

A service honoring Bernie Wilson’s life will take place on July 18, 2025, at Bucktrout Funeral Home, with the exact time to be announced.
