Outside of his professional achievements, Royer was a devoted husband and father. He was deeply passionate about history, frequently sharing his knowledge and enthusiasm with others. Additionally, he was an avid reader with interests spanning various genres. His love for music included classical, opera, jazz, and crooner styles, while his fondness for classic movies and cars further showcased his diverse interests. Royer was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Kathryn Royer. He is survived by his daughter, Kimberly Richbourg, and her husband Thomas; his son, Weston Royer, and his wife Jamie; and his grandchildren, Avery and Ella Royer, Stanley and Joseph Richbourg, and Kristen Reid and her husband Sam. His family has expressed that Royer’s spirit of love, joy, and mentorship will continue to live on in their hearts.
To honor Richard Royer’s remarkable spirit, a celebration of his life is scheduled for Friday, October 17, 2025, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Bucktrout Funeral Home in Williamsburg. Family and friends are invited to come together to remember him and reflect on the impact he had on their lives.
