Williamsburg, Virginia – Elece Elizabeth Scott, a dedicated advocate and cherished member of the Williamsburg community, passed away on September 18, 2025, at the age of 78, surrounded by her family and loved ones. Her contributions to the city she loved, alongside her deep-rooted ties to the area, marked her life’s work and passion.

Born to Rebecca R. Davidson and Jewell N. Davidson in Fredericksburg, Virginia, Elece inherited her mother’s devotion to Williamsburg. Rebecca was instrumental in the city’s development, notably supporting local hospitals, The College of William and Mary, and Colonial Williamsburg. This essential upbringing fostered Elece’s lifelong commitment to the city’s beauty and heritage.

Elece attended Murray State University before starting a family of her own. She married Beverly (Bev) Hester Scott of Franklin, Virginia, in 1967 at St. Bede’s Church in Williamsburg. The couple built their first home in Warrenton, where they raised their four children on a farm with stunning views of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Eventually, they moved back to Williamsburg, solidifying Elece’s connection to the city that remained near to her heart.

Elece dedicated over 30 years of her professional life to the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation, where she worked until her retirement in 2023. Her commitment to the community and her employment aligned perfectly with her lifelong passion for the colonial city, further enhancing the legacy she left behind.

Elece is survived by her four children: Angela Scott Wallander (who is married to Bill), Christian Hunter Scott, Beverly (Chip) Hester Scott II (married to Stefanie), and Raleigh Clay Scott. The family continues to grow, with two granddaughters, Dee Wallander Rindt and Becky Wallander Schultz, as well as three grandsons, Wesley Scott, Willem Scott, and Wyatt Scott. Elece also leaves behind four great-grandchildren. Additionally, her sister, Dixie D. Wolf, resides in Williamsburg, while her brother, Donald J. Davidson, lives in Richmond.

Elece was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Bev. Throughout her life, her happiest moments were spent within the loving embrace of her family and the captivating environment of Williamsburg. In memory of Elece, donations can be made in her name to Colonial Williamsburg.

A visitation will take place at Bucktrout Funeral Home on Monday, September 29th, at 10:00 am, followed by a graveside service at Cedar Grove Cemetery in Williamsburg at 11:30 am. Family, friends, and community members are invited to pay their respects to a woman who dedicated her life to advocating for and cherishing the spirit of Williamsburg.
