Margaret “Margie” Marchiano, a beloved figure known for her dedication to family and vibrant passions, passed away recently. Born in Detroit, Michigan, to Marvin and Ruby Maynard, Margie’s life was characterized by her nurturing spirit and deep connections with her loved ones. She was married to Dr. Robert E. Marchiano, affectionately referred to as “Bob.” The couple raised three children together on Long Island, New York, where they created a warm and loving home.

Throughout her life, Margie cultivated various interests that brought joy to her and those around her. She had a passion for traveling, reading, watching movies, playing with her dogs and cats, and crocheting beautiful afghans. Most importantly, she cherished the time spent with her family, making lasting memories with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Margie was preceded in death by her husband Bob in 2006, a loss that deeply affected her. In 2025, she faced another heart-wrenching loss with the passing of her partner of over 15 years, David VanWickler. Despite these challenges, Margie remained a pillar of strength and love for her family.

She is survived by her two daughters, Shawn Marie Blaine, married to John, and Renee T. Cirella, married to Ed. Her son, Robert J. Marchiano, is in a partnership with Drew. Margie’s family also includes five grandchildren: Kristy, Matt, Deirdre, Andrew, and Will. In addition, she took great pride in being a great-grandmother to five: Birdie, Michael, Alyssa, Shane, and Liam. Margie also referred to Mariann VanWickler Franklin as her “bonus daughter,” further illustrating her inclusive and loving nature.

Inurnment for Margie’s and Bob’s cremains is scheduled to take place at the Williamsburg Memorial Park Columbarium in Williamsburg, Virginia, where they will rest together in eternal peace. In memory of Margie, donations to the Alzheimer’s Association are encouraged. This act of generosity will honor her life and the impact she had on those who knew her.
