Originally set for Monday and Tuesday, the event was moved up a day to avoid anticipated severe weather from Tropical Storm Imelda.

ECU dominated the tournament, taking first place with a score of 23-under par 841. The University of Central Florida (UCF) secured the second position with a score of 15-under par 849, while Jacksonville State University (JSU) rounded out the top three with a total score of 13-under par 851.

Cullen Campbell led the ODU contingent, tying for 55th place with a score of seven-over par 223. His performance included two rounds of 71 and a final round of 81. Kaijun Ma and Jakub Sutor both finished tied for 65th place with scores of 10-over par 226. Garret Cameron tied for 78th place with a score of 14-over par 230, and Joe MacPherson completed the ODU lineup in 80th place with a score of 15-over par 231.

In the individual standings, Philip Bondestad from ECU claimed the title with an impressive score of 11-under par 205. Ryley Heath from JSU followed closely, finishing in second place at 207, just two strokes behind Bondestad. Arjun Singh Bhatia from LIU came in third with a score of 208.

Despite some commendable individual performances, Barry Marple, ODU’s Associate Head Coach, expressed disappointment regarding the overall team performance in the tournament. Looking ahead, the ODU men’s golf team aims to improve its performance in the upcoming Elon’s Phoenix Invitational, scheduled for October 13-14 at Alamance Country Club in Burlington, North Carolina.

In terms of team standings, Longwood and Gardner-Webb tied for fifth place with scores of 7-under par 857, while Queens and Georgia State finished tied for eighth with scores of 2-under par 862. Overall, the Ironwood Collegiate Classic presented a challenging environment for competitors as teams vied for top honors amid shifting schedules necessitated by weather concerns.
