From music concerts to farmers’ markets, there is something for everyone to experience throughout the month.

The month kicks off with a live music performance by Cristina Vane on August 1 from 6 PM to 8 PM. Vane’s music blends elements of blues, folk, country, and rock, setting a lively tone for the events to come. On August 2 and 9, Yorktown Market Days will take place from 8 AM to noon, celebrating National Farmers Market Week with local produce and artisan goods.

For families, the region offers a special after-hours park event on August 2 and 9 from 8 PM to 11 PM. These nights feature a live DJ, immersive neon lights, and bubble parties, creating a magical atmosphere for all ages. Additionally, free outdoor movies will return to Merchants Square in the parking lot behind Baskin Robbins, providing a cinematic experience under the stars.

Those interested in nature can visit the Butterfly Haven at the Virginia Living Museum, which is open daily from 9 AM to 5 PM, allowing visitors to immerse themselves in the beauty and wonder of native butterflies.

A significant highlight of the month is the Great American Outdoors Act on August 4, during which National Park Service sites will offer free admission from 9 AM to 5 PM, encouraging outdoor exploration and appreciation of America’s natural heritage.

A free outdoor concert series will take place every Thursday evening at Riverwalk Landing from 6:30 PM to 9 PM, featuring local music acts. Performers for August include Slapnation on August 7 and The Deloreans on August 14.

Activities continue with the SuperHero Trike Trek on August 9, which will be hosted at Warhill Sports Complex starting at 8:30 AM. This fun event includes races for both children and adults, along with food and entertainment to keep the atmosphere celebratory. Later that same day, two free public events will occur—the Family Festival from 9 AM to 12 PM with bounce houses and vendors, and an Anniversary Concert at 5 PM at Jamestown Beach.

August 11 features a Preschool Open Gym at Williamsburg Gymnastics from 10:30 AM to 12 PM, while a School Age Open Gym will take place on August 14 from 10 AM to 12 PM, allowing kids to engage in physical activities.

Marking a significant historic moment, a special event on August 16 at Jamestown Settlement will honor the legacy of the first recorded Africans brought to Virginia in 1619. This event is included with museum admission and runs from 10 AM to 4 PM.

On August 10, the 2nd Sundays Williamsburg Art & Music Festival will be held from 11 AM to 4 PM, showcasing over 190 artisans, live music, and a selection of food trucks. Concurrently, cannon demonstrations by Lamb’s Artillery will take place at the Yorktown Battlefield Visitor Center, providing an educational glimpse into the region’s history.

The festivities will culminate in an end-of-summer celebration on August 30 from 5 PM to 9 PM, featuring live music and lawn games, offering a fitting close to the month’s activities.

In addition to these events, local libraries and the Stryker Center will host workshops throughout August, including Teen Ice Cream Making and a Bubbles & Foam Party, catering to a range of interests and age groups.

Residents of the area can also enjoy free admission to both the Jamestown Settlement and the American Revolution Museum at Yorktown, provided they show proof of residency. Furthermore, the Good Neighbor Pass will be available for local residents and staff, granting free admission and discounts at Colonial Williamsburg attractions.

With a packed schedule of events, August promises a month filled with enjoyment and community bonding in Williamsburg and Yorktown.
