Williamsburg – The Williamsburg Winery is set to host a “Galantine’s Day Sip and Shop Celebration” on February 10 from 5 PM to 8 PM, inviting attendees to enjoy an evening of shopping with friends while highlighting local artisans. This event is aimed at creating a community-centric experience where visitors can explore a variety of high-end gift items perfect for Valentine’s Day.

Cierra Weatherly, CEO of Williamsburg Winery Distribution Co., stated that the event will showcase an array of local crafts, including jewelry, leatherworks, and paintings, allowing attendees to support local vendors while enjoying the festive atmosphere. The celebration will take place in the front room of the Gabriel Archer Tavern at the winery, adding to the venue’s appeal.

In addition to shopping, the event features live music and a selection of wines, curated cocktails, and mocktails. Guests can also indulge in a special menu created by Chef Riccardo Rinaldi, who is known for making his own pasta on Mondays. While reservations for dinner are not required, they are encouraged to ensure a spot for those wishing to dine at the tavern.

This upcoming Galantine’s Day event marks the first in a series of collaborative events that the Williamsburg Winery plans to organize in the future, further establishing its community footprint and supporting local artisans.

The Williamsburg Winery itself has an impressive history, established in 1985 and currently listed for sale at $40 million through Virginia Estates. The property spans 342 acres known as Wessex Hundred and includes 52 acres dedicated to vine cultivation, particularly focusing on the Petit Verdot varietal. In terms of volume, the winery boasts a production capacity of up to 60,000 cases, with multiple tasting venues, event spaces, two restaurants, and a boutique hotel featuring 28 rooms and suites. The winery attracts over 100,000 visitors annually, contributing to the local tourism and economy.

Recently, on September 3, the winery appointed Shane Henderson as its new Events Chef. Henderson arrives with over two decades of culinary expertise, including previous roles as Executive Chef at the Morrison-Clark Inn in Washington, D.C. His extensive experience includes positions at renowned establishments such as the Kimpton Hotel and Restaurant Group, and the Meadowood Resort Hotel in Napa Valley. His new role is expected to enhance the winery’s culinary offerings, driving innovation in menu design and event catering.

Attendees interested in the Galantine’s Day festivities can find more details about the event and participating vendors on the winery’s Facebook event page. The Sip and Shop Celebration promotes not just shopping, but also a sense of community and local artistry, making it an engaging experience for everyone involved.
